Our Director

Dick White

Professor

Professor White is an internationally renowned veterinary specialist.

After graduating from the Royal Veterinary College, he spent 20 years at Cambridge University Veterinary School. He then founded Dick White Referrals which became the largest small animal hospital in Europe. He has performed and taught all types of soft tissue surgery and is recognised as a Specialist in Small Animal Surgery by RCVS, EBVS and AVMA-ABVS.

He has published well over 100 papers in peer reviewed journals, lectures regularly, both nationally and internationally, and has held a wide variety of academic and rofessional administrative appointments. Dick was Co-Founder of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons and the British College of Veterinary Specialists.

Ali Heywood

Ali has worked in veterinary nursing education for over 25 years. Prior to joining DWA, she worked at the College of West Anglia where she was VN Director and Programme Manager for over 200 nurses.

Our Administrator

Kriss Graham

Senior Administrator

Kriss joined DWA in 2021 after a career as a personal assistant in financial services banking and later roles in education and engineering.

Tessa Croucher

Lecturer

Tess has worked in the veterinary profession for over 15 years. Having qualified in 2006, she spent 2 years in general practice before moving into referrals. Tess then moved from nursing to education.

Rachel Costa

Rachel Costa

Lecturer

Rachel has been working in veterinary practice since 2015 and has nursed many different species including small animals, exotics and wildlife. She has a particular interest in behaviour and critical care nursing and holds a degree in animal behaviour.

Kelly Winstanley

Kelly Winstanley

Head of Teaching and Assessment

Kelly spent many years working in practice with a wide variety of species, including small animals, equine, farm animals and exotics. She taught veterinary nursing and animal management from 2014 until joining the Dick White Academy in 2018.

Kate Springham

Kate Springham

Lecturer

Kate has been in the veterinary industry for 14 years. She really enjoy nurse clinics and has an interest in exotic species and small mammals. Kate joined DWA in 2023 alongside her veterinary nursing role in general practice.

Sally Petts

Sally Petts

DWA Compliance Manager

Sally worked in both first opinion and referral hospitals, enjoying intensive care and emergency work, before deciding on a change of career to veterinary nurse teaching. She joined DWR in 2018.

Lynn Irving

Lynn Irving

Lecturer

Lynn qualified in 2003 and has worked in both small animal and equine practice. Lynn's areas of interest include animal behaviour and surgery.

Angel Green

Angel Green

Lecturer

Angel is an experienced veterinary lecturer who has worked in a combination of both general and referral practice. Angel has a keen interest in laboratory skills and is a great champion for the mental health of our learners.

Hannah Lane

Hannah Lane

Hannah qualified as an RVN in 2005 and since then has worked in a variety of different practices. She has a passion for student training and worked as a clinical supervisor for several years before joining DWA in 2023. She has a keen interest in exotics, wildlife and neurology.

Lottie Haynes

RVN

Lottie is the newest member of the Liaison team and this follows working as a veterinary nurse in a large veterinary hospital. Lottie enjoys working with the students and practices to ensure that they get the best experience possible at DWA.

Lauren Lawton

Lauren Lawton

DWA Operations Manager

Lauren has worked in a variety of practices, from farm, equine and small animal general practice to small animal referral. She has a special interest in anaesthesia and pain management. Lauren completed a variety of roles in practice before deciding to move into the education sector to support the training of Veterinary Nurses.

Vicky came to DWA in 2022 following 19 years in clinical practice. As an experienced clinical supervisor, Vicky enjoys working with the learners and practices to help with the progression and success of the learners.

Steph Evans

Steph Evans

RVN

Steph has worked in clinical practice for 20 years. In this time she has worked in a variety of practices and gained much experience. Her areas of interest are medical nursing, nurse consults and student training. Moving into a career in the education sector seemed to be a natural progression due to the satisfaction of seeing students succeed with their qualification.
