ALI HEYWOOD RVN

Academy Principal

Ali has worked in veterinary nursing education for over 20 years. Prior to joining DWA she worked at the College of West Anglia where she was VN Director and Programme Manager for over 200 nurses; she also looked after 50 training practices. She enjoys working for the RCVS as an OSCE exam writer and examiner and is also an OSCE examiner for City and Guilds. Her special interest is practical exam preparation.

WENDY J PASHLEY RVN DipAVN Cert Ed BSc

Lecturer

Wendy has worked in the veterinary profession for over 20 years and has extensive experience of veterinary nursing, both as a nurse working in referral practice and as a lecturer working within the education sector. Since qualifying in 1992, Wendy has worked in both mixed and small animal referrals and held the post of Head Theatre Nurse whilst studying for the Advanced Diploma in Surgery

Following the completion of a D32/33/34 NVQ Assessor qualification, Wendy moved from referral practice to take the role of Lecturer at Writtle Agricultural College where she gained her Certificate in Education and a BSc (Hons) in Veterinary Nursing.

Wendy has taught a wide cross section of the veterinary nursing syllabus in various establishments and is experienced in maximising the potential of all students.

TESSA CROUCHER FdSc VN Cert RVN

Lecturer

Tess has worked in the veterinary profession for over 10 years. Having qualified in 2006, she spent 2 years in general practice before moving into referrals where she was quickly promoted to Ward Nurse Manager and then Senior Nurse Manager. In 2013 she studied towards her Certificate in Emergency and Critical Care.

Following maternity leave Tess moved from nursing into education. She became the Nurse Training Co-Ordinator at Dick White Referrals and subsequently trained as a Clinical Coach.

Tess has coached a number of students through the VCA and the Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing.

Kelly Winstanley

Lecturer

Kelly spent many years working in practice with a wide variety of species, including small animals, equine, farm animals and exotics. She taught veterinary nursing and animal management from 2014 until joining the Dick White Academy in 2018.
